The First Peoples Principles of Learning remind us that education is more than just gaining knowledge, it is a lifelong, holistic journey that connects us to our relationships, histories and the world around us. One of the most powerful aspects is the recognition that learning takes patience and time. Normally speed and efficiency are highly prioritized in the world, but this principle is a reminder to slow down and truly absorb the knowledge shared with us. There is also an emphasis on well-being, respect and interconnection that I want to bring to my class as an educator. Learning is so much more than memorizing facts. Learning is about understanding our place in the world, caring for each other and honoring diverse perspectives.
