Wildlife Park Burrowing Owl Program Volunteer

Volunteering at the Wildlife Park within the burrowing owl program was a rewarding and unforgettable experience. I had the opportunity to care for these fascinating little guys by feeding them and cleaning their habitats to keep their living nice and clean for them. It was incredible to observe their unique behaviours up close while contributing to their well-being. This experience taught me the importance of conservation efforts and gave me a deeper appreciation for wildlife and the role we can play in protecting endangered species. I highly recommend to anyone who loves wildlife to volunteer with these little owls.
Wildlife Park Herbivore Dietary Volunteer
Helping to portion and feed some of the herbivores at the Wildlife Park was a fun and memorable experience. It was enjoyable and interesting preparing their meals and learning about the different dietary needs of each animal. It was exciting to see animals like elk, camels, and reindeer up close as they eagerly ate the food I helped prepare. This experience gave me a better understanding of animal care and how important proper nutrition is for their health and well-being. It really feels great to contribute to their care and be part of the behind-the-scenes work that helps the Wildlife Park run smoothly.
McGowan Elementary Volunteer
I had a lot of fun volunteering at my younger siblings’ school, McGowan Elementary. Volunteering in a grade 2 and grade 7 class was a very rewarding experience In the Grade 2 class, I enjoyed helping the younger students with their reading, answering their questions, and seeing their excitement as they were able to complete tasks on their own. With the Grade 7 students, I helped organize and run a bake sale, which was a unique way to work as a team, handle money, and connect with the older students. It was amazing to see how everyone came together to support a good cause, and it felt great to contribute to the school community in such a positive and engaging way.
